Celebrate V-Day In Glendale

A man giving red roses and a heart shaped box to a woman

February is right around the corner, know what that means? From the new apartments in Glendale CA to the rest of the county, people will be scrambling for last minute Valentine’s Day plans, hoping they find just the right event to spend some time at with their special someone.

That is, unless they start their search a little early and do some prep work to make sure they find something before they’re under the gun (and facing a heaping helping of stress). We’re here to help -- there are plenty of things going on in Glendale around V-Day, and we’ve decided to list some choice options to make your search just that much easier.

First, You Need The Flowers

Nothing says Valentine’s Day like flowers, so before you plan that blowout date, make sure you’ve got a fine bouquet in hand to impress your loved one. Now, one option is to go the 1-800 Flowers route. They’ve teamed up with Conroy’s Flowers to deliver amazing selections of flowers with swift service:

“What would the most passionate, heartfelt day of the year be without long-stemmed and fragrant red roses or a posy of pretty pink blossoms? Sure, candy and paper hearts are nice. But there's nothing quite so beautiful and ethereal, so capable of expressing love, as a Valentine's Day bouquet!”

Not a bad deal, either. You can choose from dozens of varieties of flowers (including the traditional V-Day roses), order up what you need, and just wait for them to be delivered in time for February 14th. Of course, you might prefer a more up-close-and-personal view of what you’re purchasing, in which case you can just head to one of Glendale’s many flower shops to find what you need.

My Glendale Florist is one such option, one of the area’s most notable:

“My Glendale Florist is the best source for flowers and gifts in town. We offer online and in-store ordering with same-day delivery on a wide variety of arrangements and gifts. Our fresh take on design has brought us attention throughout the country and made My Glendale Florist one of the top flower shops in the valley.”

They’ve made a name for themselves supplying flowers for plenty of big-name clients, including Celine Dion, Will Smith, Julie Andrews, Russell Simmons, L.A. Reid, Sharon Stone, Adele, Anne Hathaway and Mariah Carey. They’ve even done work for large corporations, like Sony Pictures, William Morris Agency, United Talent Agency, The SAG Awards, NBC Universal, The Weinstein Company, Google, Yahoo and The BET Awards. You’ll be sure to get a amazing arrangement from these guys, or any other local florist you decide to grab some flowers from.

Next, You Plan The Date

With flowers in hand, it’s time to plan that day (or night) to remember. A romantic dinner is always an appreciated V-Day option, so it might benefit you to take a look at some of the best meal options in the region. TimeOut has you covered there, as they’ve already compiled the definitive list on Valentine’s Day dinners in and around Los Angeles.

Choice options include The Bellwether, the place to go to in Studio City for a delicious four-course dinner. The meal in question includes Caesar salad, roasted sunchokes and burrata, Surf & Turf, along with a chocolate bread pudding and a 2013 Tolosa Cabernet Sauvignon.

Then there’s Catch LA, where the celebrities go to have a good time. As the publication notes, however, “if it's good enough for every celebrity in town, it's good enough for us regular folks, too.” This fashionable spot is serving up a Valentine’s Day meal that includes a heart-shaped Catch roll, vegan crab cake, branzino for two, mushroom spaghetti, and a delicious Hit Me cake for dessert.

The point is, you’ve got plenty of options for a relaxing and romantic V-Day dinner. It might not be reasonable to rest all your hopes on that end-of-the-day meal, though, in which case, you might need to plan some other festivities to occupy your time on (and leading up to) the 14th.

For those, we can refer to Eventbrite, who have graciously compiled a number of events happening around Valentine’s Day. The Valentine’s Day Market looks to be a serene option, one that will add an opportunity for shopping to your afternoon. Hosted by FreeForm, this is the first-ever Made By A Survivor Valentine’s Day, which will feature products created by survivors of domestic violence. The proceeds from this event go directly to those survivor-entrepreneurs and their businesses, and will be an opportunity to show your support for those who have been impacted by this issue.

A Valentine’s Day Boudoir Photoshoot is a great way to show someone how much you care, and Artiste Fleurdelis is offering a chance for women to look and feel their best on camera:

“Our boudoir photography is very delicate and intimate seting for professional photography for women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. After the shoot, customers can view the photos online to pick their favorites and turn those sensual shots into everything from mounted prints, calendars.”

Valentine’s Day can also be a day for partying, as the Boo’d Up Valentine’s Day R&B Party so prominently touts. Hosted by Nick Nuk’em, this no cover party at the Karma Lounge will feature music by Kryp2nite, along with all night drinks and dancing. As the event organizers note, an Uber or Lyft ride is highly recommended.

Of course, not everyone gets into the Valentine’s Day spirit, and if you consider yourself among that group, the Anti-Valentine’s Day Party might be just the event for you. “Valentine’s Day is no longer just for couples,” they state, and this event will allow singles the opportunity to dance, converse, and have a great time enjoying the single-lifestyle right at The Argyle. For anyone in their 20s-50s, this will be one of the largest gatherings of singles around, so you’ll definitely benefit from heading down there and taking a peek at the action.
